Thanks for this calculator but if you want to find closest resister in series or palallel from standard resistors try this calculator 11. With this tool it is very fast and easy to locate the best part match vs. Great tool for any engineer that performs filter realizations for multiple impedance de-normalizations. These values are called preferred values and are standardized as E series of preferred numbers, which are used not only for resistors, but also for capacitors. It is a very useful resource for the engineering student If there is some other kind of calculation you are looking for, let me know. ![]() This calculator uses lookup tables for the E6 and E12 capacitor series as they don’t seem to follow a formula. This lesson considers how to identify different resistors. I’m not sure what kind of calculation you are looking for, but if it is a formula to find the closest capacitor value, I don’t have one. The E24 and E12 series of standard resistor values are the preferred values available to use in circuit construction. Is there any way you can show me how you make a calculation for capacitors? Do you have any equation you can share? Thanks for your help and your web side - it’s been great. If the closest value is not near enough, you can do it. ![]() Rather helpful WEB-site, if I say so myself!! For instance, if the measured value is 317.5, then the closest standard value, which is 330, is used.
